About Our Microwave Repair
Over-the-range and built-in microwaves are part of the kitchen itself. They're wired in, they often vent the cooktop below, and they're sized to fit a specific opening, which makes them awkward and costly to replace. That's why they're usually the microwaves worth repairing. A basic countertop microwave is a different story, and we'll be upfront if a repair doesn't make sense.
Microwaves store dangerous voltage in the high-voltage capacitor, even after they're unplugged, so opening the cabinet isn't a DIY job. We discharge the capacitor safely, test the high-voltage circuit and the door interlock switches, and replace only the parts that have actually failed.
Over-the-range models also do a second job as the range hood. If the vent fan, the cooktop light or the grease filter area has stopped working, the microwave may still heat fine, and those are usually straightforward repairs. When you book, tell us the brand and model number (on a label inside the door frame) and what the microwave is doing.

Why does my microwave run but not heat?
The most common causes are a failed high-voltage diode, capacitor or magnetron, or a blown thermal fuse. We test them in sequence so only the failed part is replaced.
Is it safe to repair a microwave myself?
We don't recommend it. The high-voltage capacitor can hold a dangerous charge even when the microwave is unplugged. Replacing a light bulb or checking the turntable is fine; anything inside the cabinet is best left to a technician.
Can you fix an over-the-range microwave's vent fan?
Yes. We repair vent fan motors, fan switches and the control relays that run them, as well as the cooktop lights.
Why does my microwave keep blowing a fuse?
A line fuse that blows again and again is often a sign of a failing door interlock switch or a shorted high-voltage part. Replacing only the fuse won't fix it; the cause has to be found.
