East Orlando along Alafaya Trail

Alafaya is a census-designated place in east Orange County named for Alafaya Trail (State Road 434), which runs north toward UCF and Oviedo. Addresses here use Orlando as the city name. Avalon Park, Waterford Lakes and Stoneybrook are the largest communities, and most homes were built from the 1990s on.

Newer homes mean a lot of electronic controls, front-load washers and French-door refrigerators with ice and water in the door. Those designs are efficient, but they add parts that fail: door-lock assemblies and drain-pump filters on front-loaders, and ice maker fill tubes that freeze on refrigerators. They're usually repairable at a fraction of the cost of a new appliance.

Front-load washer odors and leaks

A front-load washer that smells or leaks at the door usually needs attention at the door boot seal and drain pump filter. We check both, look for the actual source of the water and replace what's worn.

Getting to you in the Alafaya area

We reach the Alafaya area along Alafaya Trail (State Road 434), East Colonial Drive (State Road 50), the State Road 408 and the State Road 417 toll roads. Most homes here are in HOA subdivisions, many with a gate, so add the entry instructions when you book. Newer homes in Avalon Park and Waterford Lakes often have builder-grade appliances that are reaching the age where pumps, fans and control boards start to fail. Those are usually worth repairing.
